Urban Sustainability and Smart City Event in Panaji

Our second event on ‘Urban Sustainability and Smart City’ was organised on 21st and 22nd November 2022 in Panaji. This is a series of four events, under the India - EU Urban Partnership (IEUP), a project between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, and the European Union.

The event was inaugurated by Sri. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, Government of Goa. Ms. Kamilla Kristensen Rai, Counsellor, EU Delegation to India made the welcome address (virtually), while Sri. Agnelo AJ Fernandes, Commissioner, Corporation of the City of Panaji, and Dr. Pradip Sarmokadam, Member Secretary Goa State Biodiversity Board delivered the keynote address.



The 2-day event saw participation from key experts from government organisations of Goa, private sector experts, and EU Member States, where the developments in the areas of solid waste management, urban resilience, and mobility solutions in the context of Panaji were deliberated followed by interactive discussion sessions between speakers and the participants.

The event was attended by 60 participants from Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Department of Urban Development, Goa State Urban Development Agency, Goa University Taleigao Plateau Goa, Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited, Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited, Traffic cell, Panaji, Goa, ICLEI South Asia, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), District Collector Office North Goa, North Goa Planning and Development Authority, PWD Goa, Water Resources Department, Earth Foundation, Charles Correa Foundation, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CSIR - National Institute of Oceanography, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government College Khandola, SKYi Innovations, and GIZ attended the event.



Overall, we had an enthusiastic response, and the discussions were well received by the concerned stakeholders.
