Urban Water Management Workshop: Reducing Non-Revenue Water and Reuse of Wastewater

On 13th April, 2023, an online workshop was conducted to discuss various important topics related to urban water management and conservation as part of the technical study on Urban Water Management under the India - EU Urban Partnership (IEUP) support project.

 

The session aimed to bring together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders from EU, India and Bhubaneswar, Odisha for a focused discussion and sharing and exchanging learnings between participants.

 



 

The session included presentations on different topics related to the importance of reducing Non-Revenue Water, means to reuse wastewater in cities, the role of the European Union and EU stakeholders, and sharing and exchanging learnings between participants. The work undertaken by Bhubaneswar in particular and Odisha was appreciated by the participants and they wished to understand more about it from the Urban Water Management Report.

 



 

The workshop was attended by more than 15 participants from Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO); BOSAQ; Odisha Water Supply and Sewerage Board; Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW); GIZ; India – EU Water Partnership Action; VITO; Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO); Embassy of Poland, Embassy of Slovenia; Delegation of the European Union to India; India EU Urban Partnership Support Project, etc.

 

The technical workshop on Urban Water Management provided an excellent opportunity to discuss various challenges and solutions related to urban water management. Overall, the session was informative and insightful, and it is hoped that the knowledge gained will help in developing effective strategies for urban water management in India.
