In the face of rapid urbanization and transformation on urban areas, it is imperative that managers and decision-makers are trained to address the emerging challenges of urbanization. The ‘Workshop’ mode is a tested methodology and offers the advantages of shared knowledge, building up procedural experience that is more than academic and offers development of select action oriented priorities on metropolitan investments, both tangible and intangible. The methodology also reinforces discussion, debate of governance participation and integration.
Complexities facing metropolises cover multiple dimensions and must be integrated and addressed in the workshop procedures. Integration is necessary in terms of sectors, governance, scales and time. Each metropolis requires a tailored approach to address its context specific set of issues.
